Mission

Solidus' mission for the pharmaceutical industry is to improve the process of new drug development by providing proprietary decision-enabling technology to enhance the efficiency of and productivity from investment in new drug research and development. The same decision-enabling technology will enable the cosmetics and related industries to develop safe and effective ingredients for their spectrum of products.

Business Strategy

Solidus' business strategy will be to offer industrial (e.g., pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and cosmetics), clinical, university, and government laboratories and contract research organizations the opportunity for higher productivity in the development of drugs and related substances (e.g., cosmetics ingredients) through the application of the MetaChip to enhance decision-making at early (lead identification and lead optimization) and preclinical stages. Solidus will emphasize early availability of highly predictive information on human toxicology, and the resulting early opportunity for the customer to make informed, "go/no-go" decisions with respect to further progression of new product candidates through the development process.

The company will be positioned as the leading provider of decision-enabling technology for high-throughput toxicology assays conducted throughout the discovery and development of new drugs, cosmetics, and other chemical-based products.

History

Solidus Biosciences, Inc., a Delaware registered company, was founded in August 2002 as a supplier of decision-enabling technology to support new product development in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cosmetics, and nutraceutical industries by measuring the potential safety and efficacy of new product candidates through the use of biocatalysis to evaluate human toxicity and metabolism early in the development process. The company's core competence is its unrivaled knowledge and understanding of and experience with biocatalysis and its application in the discovery and development of chemical-based products.

The Company's offices are in the small business incubator facility at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Its laboratories are located both in the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies at Rensselaer and the university-run laboratory facility in Watervliet, NY.
